DOUBLE DECK VIBRATING LAP

YOU CAN BE ROUGH GRINDING AND FINISH POLISHING AT THE SAME TIME WITH THIS 18" DOUBLE PAN SET-UP.

Use the top pan with it's special pad for all polishing, and the lower pan for the other stages of grinding and pre-polishing.

Brackets hold the two pans in place, one above the other, and are designed for easy removal of the pans.

Slabs rotate in a circular orbit so there is little damage to any stone edge. Use a Lapmate (described below) and you greatly reduce your lapping time.

Machine is made of non-rusting aluminum castings. Only weighs 50 pounds so can be moved from place to place but is still heavy enough for stability while in operation.

The Double Deck Lap (formerly "Lap-Lap") is powered by a 1/8 HP 110V 60 Hz, heavy duty ball bearing motor. The machine comes with frame, motor, two pans, polishing pad and a set of brackets.

GRIT SEQUENCE FOR LAPPING

The choice of abrasive grit sizes for the lapping process follows somewhat that in tumbling or stone polishing procedures. The choice also depends upon the material, and preference of the person doing the work. The following sequence of silicone carbide grits is commonly used, and will generally produce a satisfactory polish on most materials:

60/90, 220, 400, 600, 1000, and then a polish. Generally, the more steps the better the polish.
